The best of times!!

I guess when you talk about Joel you need to start from the beginning – FOOTBALL!! Best goalkeeper I ever had the privilege to play with, whether it was a full on game with the Crusaders or a kick around on Sydney Joel had always been an exceptional talent who just loved to play (apart from the time we conceded 9 goals and he walked off at half time). Eventually though his love of football was surpassed by his love of a good night out (and a few beers) One of the first nights out I remember with Joel was partying in the Frog and Ferret, being two clever guys we thought it was a good idea to buy a bottle of Amaretto and neck it “straight” on the way to the bus station, needless to say it wasn’t long before we were up on the dancefloor getting the party started, only problem was it had barely turned six o’clock and the place was empty, by nine the nightlife had kicked in and everywhere had caught up, unfortunately we were finished! Undoubtable there were many fun and intoxicating nights out with Joel and his many friends, amongst them were Derby where we got smashed threw some shapes and hit the dancefloors, Blackpool where we got smashed threw some shapes and hit the dancefloors, and Liverpool for Joel’s birthday (one of the best days ever) where we got smashed threw some shapes and hit the dancefloor – literally this time as Joel could no longer remain upright!! One of my favourite and last nights out with Joel was a small gathering in Nantwich with some close friends!! Apart from Joel’s appetite for a fun night out it was his caring and considerate nature that really resounds with me, from helping set my email up when I didn’t know what to do (Freddyisace), coming the Alex with me and Jonge when I made the odd appearance (even though he had his usual mates to go with), recommending youth talent on football manager (Freddy Adu) or recommending his favourite adult entertainment (B-----/B----) ;) Another memory worthy of mention is Joel’s family vacation to Newquay which a couple of us tagged on to, heatstroke, a broken car (which Vito fixed), a tenting nightmare (which Nath fixed), and a backwards night out in the local town (which was empty) proved to be an eventful trip! All in all some amazing memories shared with Joel, his family and his many friends.xxx
